The Catskill Village Board is debating whether the Village's annual Fourth of July fireworks display should be moved from its historic location at Dutchmen's Landing to a spot along Main Street.
Village President Vincent Seeley said he is constantly looking to bring shoppers to Main Street and to highlight it features and attractions, and bringing the fireworks display could do just that.

The annual Cars and Guitars, Under the Stars event in Hart County is a couple of months away, but work is already under way to prepare for the event.
Sponsored by the Hart County Chamber of Commerce, it's a fundraiser with a specific purpose, said Michele Dipert, president of the chamber.
"We've got a big event happening on May 29," she said referring to Cars and Guitars.

A student who was arrested after bringing a fake bomb to Huntington Beach High School had a German flag and hat, illegal fireworks and an inert stick grenade at his home, according to a search warrant filed by Huntington Beach police.
Police also seized three laptops, notebooks, and papers with references to bombs, firecrackers, a grenade, and a fire bomb, the paperwork filed March 9 said.

This year's Weatherly Hillclimb will end with a bang.
Borough council voted 5-0 to approve spending $1,500 toward a $3,000 fireworks display in conjunction with the Weatherly Hillclimb Association, which will pick up the remaining $1,500.
Councilmen Harold Farrow and Joseph Cyburt were absent from Monday's meeting, but said previously they were in favor of fireworks as part of the hillclimb, set for June 12 and 13.

Each year this show becomes harder to put on because of the cost and smaller contributions.

THE Cebu City government will launch the South Road Property (SRP) in celebrations that may stretch for a week prior to the May 10 elections.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas OsmeƱa yesterday said the launching will be on May 8 aimed to promote the SRP to the general market.
"I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to (the launch)," the mayor said.

Facing a $2.6 million deficit this year, the city's Community Redevelopment Agency suspended its support for several programs and projects for the next few years.
The agency's board voted 3-1 in a special Tuesday meeting to cut annual money for the community policing program, Police Athletic League, Fourth of July fireworks, holiday lights in July and December, Lincoln Theatre reconstruction, old St. Anastasia Catholic School repairs, Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society and Zora Fest.
